The Stretching Part of Selling a House

We put our place on the market in early January, hoping to sell our cabin and build a new house on the land we had bought that is closer to church and town.

Last week we got an offer and accepted it, but the contract is pending an inspection that we were told was happening this Thursday or Friday.

Monday evening at 9:15 the children were in bed, and Andy and I were sitting on the couch talking about house plans when Andy got a text from the realtor.

“The house inspection will be Tuesday morning at 10 AM. Is that ok?”

Ummmm….

In panic we looked around. We were not ready for a house showing and inspection.

“We’ll make it work,” Andy texted back, and then we got busy cleaning and putting things away.

When we went to bed at 11 PM we felt ok about the next day. At least some of the tools sitting on the porch had been put away and there wasn’t laundry hanging everywhere in the loft anymore.

We woke to another text from the realtor – “Nevermind, the inspection will be Friday at 10 AM.”

I was cross to have my life yanked around, but Andy thought it was hilarious and soon teased me back into seeing the positive side.

It would be nice to have some closure and know for sure if we need to be packing up to move by May 20, but at least now I get to enjoy several extra days of having a clean house!
