It’s 11:30 AM and the sun is finally clearing the tops of the trees to hit the house. These are the darkest days of the year and it doesn’t get light out until almost 10 AM with a sunset time of 4 pm. So far I don’t mind it, we just have to try to get outside things done during a smaller window of time.
Together with another family in church we got a cow about six weeks ago. Gabe immediately named her Star because she is black with a white spot on her forehead. She is a great milker and we’ve been getting 3 gallons of milk a day. We split the milk with the other family, but there’s still lots to make cheese, yogurt and butter with. Andy and I spend about 20 minutes milking morning and evening. I guess you could call them our ‘milking dates’.
Andy is finishing up the wiring in the basement of our new house and then it’ll be ready for drywall. We’re hoping to get it finished out in the next month and move in – hopefully before Baby comes mid January. Just thinking about the timing makes me a bit anxious, but God never changes and will be faithful even in the midst of moving and having a new little one to care for, whichever comes first.
What is filling your days this time of year? Are you making cookies and gingerbread houses? I hope you’re having a wonderful holiday season!
