Now it came to pass in those days that Tabitha set herself to bake a pie for her beloved, to light his countenance when he returned to their abode after laboring in the fields.
And she took a bit of flour and oil to knead it withal, when her little one came unto her with great sorrow and vexation of spirit. When she asked him what it was that troubled him, he answered and said unto her, “Verily I say unto thee, I was playing with the building blocks when lo, and behold, my sister did beat me upon the head with a Lincoln log and I lifted up my voice and wept.”
Whereupon did Tabitha leave her pie and hasten to discipline her children and restore the fellowship between them.
Now as she returned to the work of her hands she did notice that the sun sank low and that her husband’s arrival was imminent, and so she did hasten to mix in the spices and fruits and to put the pie in the coals to bake.
But she had no sooner put the pie in the oven, but her younger daughter came with haste and desired a small morsel to eat, for she fainted with hunger. And Tabitha gave her daughter some bread and it did suffice.
The day was now far spent, but before Tabitha could return to the hearth and make victuals for the evening meal, she listened and heard a still small voice calling unto her. And it said, “Mother, I pray thee, wilt thou peradventure come hither and wipe me?” And she hastened to do as the voice bade her.
And so it was that when her beloved returned from his labor wherewith he had labored throughout the heat of the day, that Tabitha greeted him and kissed him and said unto him, “Mine eyes have longed for thy coming and indeed my spirit lept within me when I saw thy countenance, but alas! The only supper I have prepared is this pie!”
Hilarious! 🤣🤣🤣 My favorite part is the Lincoln Log. And the end. 🤣🥰
And all mothers of many young said, “Amen!”
Oh the life of a mother with little people! Loved this!
I loved this post! 🙂
