There Are Days, And There Are DAYS

There are days when I get up on time and get dressed and have my devotions before the children wake up. Sometimes I even get a good start on breakfast before they clatter down from the loft.

There are days when I miraculously catch the toddler’s plate just as it is tipping off the breakfast table, and the children clap and say, “Hooray!”

There are days when there are no poopy diapers at all, and instead of worrying about clogged digestive systems, I just praise God for the break.

There are days when the toddler not only finds his shoes, but puts them on all by himself and goes happily out to play.

There are days when the laundry pile is small and so I decide that it can wait for another day.

There are days when everyone behaves beautifully at quiet time, and the little ones nap while the older ones lie quietly reading their books without any need for intervention by me.

There are days when I have supper prepped in the morning, and so all I need to do is pop the chicken and rice in the oven.

There are days when the children do cute things all day long and I feel blessed and so extremely lucky to be their mama.

There are days when Andy comes home early from work and we all clean up supper and go to the beach together to find shells and walk beside the waves.

There are days when I say, “It’s time for bed!” And all the children say, “Ok Mom!” and leave their play to go get their pajamas on.

This was not that kind of day.

What was your day like?

  1. We read the books. Indentify and eliminate stress points. Say no to the children when necessary and stick to you’re word. Work at it – all day every day -so that your husband can find his home a spot of serene solitude at the end of the day with a scrumptious supper awaiting him. And of course he gets greeted at the door by a sparkling wife who is ready to serve him sweetly all evening.
This was not my day today. I could have cut out this extra canning. The children sulked. Supper
was a tad sparse. Hubby’s space was abit of a sight. The wifey was kind of selfish.
But…I still read stories to the children and supper was sufficient and … nobody fired me! I get to try again!💕

    1. Imagine walking at the beach after supper. How magical that must be! I have to drive 4 hours to get to the beach. You’re lucky to live so close 🙂
