My Goals As A Young Mother

Prioritize quiet time with God by waking up before the children.
I can listen to the Bible while I make breakfast, but I try to only do that a couple times a week. There’s just no substitute for sitting down with the Bible and actually reading it for yourself.

Involve the children in my work.
There’s a lot they can help with, especially if I’m creative and make jobs for Oscar. They can help clear the table and wash the dishes and fold laundry and in the meantime they aren’t bored.

Take time out during the morning to do something with the children.
It can be going outside to play in the snow with them, reading them books, or overseeing a school type project. I try to do this while the baby takes her morning nap.

Sew or mend once a week.
I’ve been trying to sew some dresses for myself since I only have a few that fit me after having a baby. It looks like an overwhelming project until I break it down and do some sewing one day a week, or try to get one dress sewn by doing a little bit every day.

Divide deep cleaning goals into increments.
I’ve divided up the house into areas and try to deep clean one area every Thursday. For example this week I’ll be cleaning the living room. I normally sweep and vacuum every single day because with a wood stove the floor keeps getting dirty. But this is the day to dust, get cobwebs down, wash the windows, and vacuum in the couch cracks and underneath the furniture. Next week I’ll be deep cleaning the bathroom, and then it will be the loft. In this way, the whole house gets clean every month.

These are my goals. I don’t do 100% on these, but I do try to aim for these thing. What goals do you make for yourself? Share in the comments. Maybe there are things I need to add to my list!
