A Wedding in the Family

It was so good to be with family this last week, but it was also busy since we were getting ready for Joanna’s wedding to Kyle Yoder. But we chatted while we mixed up icing and chopped potatoes and caught up on each other’s lives while we waited to hear when we were supposed to help decorate for the reception.

The cousins had fun playing dress up and hide and go seek, and they all fussed over Ariel.

Kyle and Joanna had a beautiful simple wedding. They kept it small, 130 people, and instead of a bridal party had the parents stand up as witnesses. That simplified things, and the rehearsal was more about the families getting a chance to meet rather than practicing how to walk into the church.

Snow fell on Friday and coated the trees and ground. It promptly melted on Sunday, but it made a beautiful wedding day.

My favorite part was seeing Joanna look so happy. She doesn’t show her feelings very much, so it was good to see her come alive and look so contented and in love.

We had a few relaxing days after the wedding and now we are on our way back home to Alaska. It’s sad to say goodbye, but I’m ready to get back home again.

My little sister is married now!
