On Sunday morning we had gotten 10-12 inches of snow overnight. Andy tried to get out the road with our van, but got it stuck twice and barely made it back in the lane. Other folks from church were in the same predicament, so since Andy was in charge of preaching and unable to make it, we cancelled church.
Ok! Change of plans! No hair to comb, coats to get on, boots to find. What to do with a long day at home?
We all went upstairs to the toy area and Andy and I did something we’ve been wanting to do ever since we moved into Matt’s house.
We pulled out every last piece and made a train track as long and complicated as we possibly could. What fun it was!
Then we settled down and had church in the living room like nice normal adult people, but the train track has been a great source of entertainment ever since!
Never get to old to play with the children. It’s so stress relieving.
Later we went outside and got some of that beautiful deep snow and made snow cream for a snack. I’ll leave the recipe below.
Easy Snow Cream
8-10 cups fresh clean snow
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 can sweetened condensed milk
Put half the snow in a bowl and mix in the other ingredients. Add more snow until an ice cream consistency is reached. Dish up and enjoy!
Such a fun way to share the day and use some local resources to add a sweet touch to it all.
What a great idea with the train! I think God had fun watching you play.
Tabitha, what a fun post! I’m glad you’re enjoying the snow and the new toys. 😉
