Monday was epic. We went on our boat as a family across the inlet to China Poot Bay to dip net Salmon at the falls. On the way we saw otters, a bunch of seals resting on a beach, and a puffin.
During low tide we also stopped at a place where the tide had worn away a tunnel cave in the cliff face. Inside there was a tide pool with a bunch of sea life. It was great!
Here’s bunch of seals sleeping in the sun. When we approached in the boat, up popped their heads and they tumbled over each other to get to the water.
With only three dips of the net Andy had his stringer full, so he had to take them down to the boat before coming back to catch more.
We caught our limit – 36 salmon.
On the way back we beached at a gravel bank and fried some hotdogs for supper.
Andy filleted all 36 fish in just a little over an hour and then we took them to Matt’s house to vacuum pack them. We got back at almost 2 am tired, but happy. Praise the Lord for a freezer full of fish!
This is a picture of our fridge after a previous trip when Andy got 17. I canned most of this. That’s a lot of meat!!
