1 Thing I Don’t Like About Off Grid Living

We got back Saturday afternoon from a good two days of visiting Andy’s sister, Elaine, in Hatcher Pass.

And guess what was waiting for us when we returned! A full poop bucket to dump!

Since we are Off Grid here, we decided to do something unconventional and make our own composting toilet. Instead of flushing the way normal toilets do, you just add a scoop of sawdust after using.

Honestly it’s been working great and doesn’t smell, but the downside of using a bucket is that it must be dumped. And dumped. And dumped. And Yours Truly is the person who gets to do it.

I think it’s my least favorite part of living Off Grid.

Here you can see the stand we made to cover up the bucket and make it look more “regular”.

Andy is counting down the days until he can walk again and so am I! Maybe then he’ll get to empty the poop bucket. 😜

  1. Bless your heart! I imagine you increased your lung capacity by holding your breath as long as possible! πŸ™‚
I’m so glad you could be with Elaine over the Thanksgiving Holiday.
    Love you guys!

    1. Yes I think my lung capacity has grown. πŸ™‚ And looking on the bright side, it does get me out of the house. Yesterday I went out and split a bunch of wood. Partly because Andy didn’t think I could. Lol. Five months pregnant and I can still swing an axe!
