Charcuterie boards are a great way to feed a crowd, whether it’s family, guests, or a church event you’re scheduled to bring the snack for.
And here’s a little secret – you don’t need an actual Charcuterie board. If you don’t have one, or yours isn’t big enough, I have found that my pizza pan or a cookie sheet work beautifully. Just cover with aluminum foil for easy cleanup! Let’s be honest, if you fill it with food, your pretty board doesn’t even show anyway.
What you’ll need:
Pickles
Olives
Nuts
Vegetables
Berries or grapes
Deli meat
Sliced cheese
Crackers
Biscotti, cookies, or marshmallows for a dessert section. (Optional)
Really it’s all optional. I like to start with things I have on hand, and maybe buy one or two colorful fruits or vegetables to make the platter pop.
Something I learned recently is that you can make beautiful roses to spruce up the look of things by taking either pepperoni or salami and folding it over the rim of a goblet. Fold 4 pieces around the rim, and then alternate, adding pieces of meat until the goblet rim is full. Turn the goblet upside down on a plate and let the rose fall out.
To assemble your Charcuterie board, start on one edge and dump a pile of nuts. Put something more colorful beside it and work your way out until the entire board is full. I like to put the meat and cheese and crackers in the center to create a focal point, but really it looks neat however you make it.
The best part is that it’s extremely child friendly, is delicious, and leftovers are wonderful for lunch the next day.
That looks beautiful and yummy! I just may need to try that also! Good job, Tabitha!!
Makes me hungry looking at it – such eye appeal! Cute roses!
