On Thanksgiving Day Andy and I drove four hours to the Anchorage airport to pick up two of my sisters. As we drove up to the terminal my heart started pounding. I couldn’t wait to see them again! A year is a long time to go without seeing close family.
And then there they were, standing with their luggage on the curb. I jumped out and there were hugs all around before climbing into the van to exclaim over the baby and talk the entire four hours home.
The children think their Aunts are pretty wonderful. They are available to build snowmen and read books and play games.
We had a Thanksgiving celebration and they helped me with some sewing and cleaning projects while we had great discussions on the happenings in our lives and world problems. How wonderful to stretch my mind again and think about things other than caring for the children and what we’re having for lunch!
We’re all enjoying their visit immensely and it will be so sad to see them head for home this evening.
